Umm, yeah, there's more to the context menu than just saving and printing.

I wasn't even attempting to "Save image as", I wanted to "Search Google for this image" in order to find a better quality version than what is on your !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

You're going to sic lawyers after people who are using a third party's product as it was intended? Good luck with that.

EDIT: I just realized that many of the images on the page linked above are, by his own admission, scanned from books. He has no rights to them. He cites the book and the photographer, but that's no different than if I were to republish them here myself and cite said book & photog. Others are obviously from magazines yet are not attributed to anyone. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! even has "© COPYRIGHT 1987 BIGFOOT 4X4 INC" and "Photo by Four Wheel and Off Road" clearly* printed right on it.

Kinja'd!!!

* You may note that his own watermark, added to all the images, is mostly illegible.

LOL.

I'm just going to repeatedly right click all of the pictures.

I'd like to see them try to bring any "criminal action against [me] (I'm assuming they mean "legal action" unless they're suggesting that they're going to do something criminal to me).

You sound scared. The guy that owned this website probably also designed the Youabian Puma

I was GIS'ing "Bigfoot 5", clicked on the second result , clicked visit page, and saw that it was a crappy scan of a folded photo . I wanted to search Goggle by image in order to find a better copy, and was greeted with the threatening pop-up.

I don't care that the website's owner is attempting to disable people from saving his photos. He has the right to protect his intellectual property, even if he does so with annoying pop-ups. If I were post any of his images here or elsewhere, he'd have a case. I'm pissed that he's either

A: Ignorant to the law and/or how the internet and browsers function

or

B: Attempting to intimidate his site's visitors

Not scared, just annoyed at his ignorance. I repeatedly right-clicked out of spite.

It's not even about the pictures. He has it set as a blanket mouse right click function on the page. Even if you right click in the middle of no where, you will get the same message.

If he has a counter on the number of right clicks on his web page, he's probably hitting around 1000+ in the last 5 minutes lol.

I decided to join in the spite-clicking (because I have nothing better to do today). After about the fifth time the box popped up with a little check box added saying "prevent this page from creating further dialogs." I clicked it, because why not. Suddenly I have the ability to right click images and get the drop-down. Awesome.

IANAL, but if you were posting the pics he's taken over here, it's covered under Fair Use (someone please correct me if I'm wrong though), though it'd be common courtesy to link back to his site, or at least credit him.

Now, the scans of other people's works he has posted? He doesn't have a leg to stand on there.

I have NoScript on FireFox, no pop-up here either.

Ha! I never even thought of that. Safari? On Chrome, checking the box has deactivated everything. No pop-ups, nor any context menu.

I remember a couple of years ago here on Oppo, someone innocently created a post with some photos of an interesting car. The images were watermarked with the photographer's name and website, the Oppo poster correctly attributed said photographer and linked to said website.

The photographer/website owner was furious that someone "stole" his pics. He posted as much in the Oppo thread, and ended up digging himself a deeper hole. IIRC, Gawker Media's legal team got involved. It was a mess.

My apologies, but I forget which Opponaut it was.

I'm sure NoScript block such things, as this is a sort of script he's running on the site I believe.
